I'm producing a documentary on Hodlonaut, the pseudonymous Norwegian Bitcoiner who became a legend after standing up to Craig Wright in one of Bitcoin's most significant legal battles.
But first.
Do you remember the Lightning Torch?
In early 2019, Hodlonaut started a simple experiment on Bitcoin Twitter. He sent a small amount of bitcoin to someone he trusted, who added a bit and passed it on. It hopped across 56 countries, through the hands of Jack Dorsey, Elizabeth Stark, and hundreds of others. A demonstration of trust, community, and what Lightning could do.
A few weeks earlier, that same pseudonymous Norwegian with a cartoon space cat avatar had tweeted that Craig Wright was a fraud. See how Hodlonaut describes it here.
The response? A $5,000 bounty on his identity. Private investigators. Lawsuits in two countries. Five years in court. Almost losing his home.
His real name was Magnus Granath. A schoolteacher.
The Bitcoin community rallied behind him. #WeAreAllHodlonaut became a global movement.
Thousands donated to his legal defense.
He didn't apologize. He fought.
And he won.
Now I want to tell that story properly. A real documentary with interviews, archive footage, and the full timeline from tweet to verdict.
I've already filmed about 50% of it, including a long interview with Magnus himself. But finishing this the right way takes time and resources I don't have on my own. Your contribution helps me take time off work, hire an editor and animator, and deliver something we can all be proud of. See what I am asking from you here
This picture best describes the project. I have no idea who this is:
